FNPF employees remain on strike
In a statement issued this afternoon, FNPF Acting CEO Aisake Taito said they will ensure that all available staff, including management is deployed to key areas.
He said since the strike at mid day yesterday they managed to deliver the services thanks to the dedicated staff that have put the interests of the members before their own.
Taito said the Funds Offices in Suva, Lautoka and Labasa will continue to operate as normal while a decision is expected to be made later this afternoon whether the FNPF agencies in Savusavu, Nadi and Valelevu will remain operational after they revise the staffing situation.
Meanwhile, FNPF board member and workers representative, Felix Anthony said that the FNPF management and board will not change their stand and they will not pay the COLA and performance based bonus payment because FNPF's performance in all areas so far is negative.
However, Fiji Bank and Finance Sector Union maintains that the FNPF had agreed to pay the members the COLA and the bonus and they must adhere to the agreement. General Secretary Pramod Rae said that the reason for their strike action is because of the non communication between the FNPF management and the Union.
It has been confirmed that the Interim Minister for Labour Adi Laufitu Malani is currently in a meeting with FNPF officials and is expected to relay the Funds decision to the Union later this afternoon.
