As we come to the end of day one of the Fijian Teachers Association, Public Employees Union and Viti Taukei Workers Union and the ninth day of the Fiji Nursing Association strikes, the interim administration remains firm that the planned disruptions by the unions have failed.

In an exclusive interview with Village News, Interim Prime Minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama said that the unions had planned to cripple the health, education, water and road servives but they could not succeed as many workers have not walked off their jobs.

However spokesperson for the striking FICTU unions and Viti National Union of Taukei Workers General Secretary, Taniela Tabu
said this is just the first day of the strike and things may get better for them tomorrow.
