The Fiji Nursing Association said they were disappointed with the agreement put forward by the interim administration in its attempts to avert a nationwide strike.
All the Confederation of Public Sector Unions were supposed to have signed an agreement with the Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune yesterday. However, only the Fiji Public Service Association and the Fiji Teachers Union signed the agreement.
FNA General Secretary Kuini Lutua said nurses are worth much more than just 1 percent.
The agreement entailed a one percent pay rate to be restored across the board of reduction from the time it was reduced which will be paid this December before Christmas.
However, the balance of 4 percent will be discussed later. The quantum and the timeline for restoration will be negotiated prior to the delivery of the 2008 National Budget.
Meanwhile, FICTU officials made up of the Fijian Teachers Association, Public Employees Union and Viti Taukei Workers Union are currently meeting Bune.
