The Fiji Nursing Association is now calling on the Ministry of Labour to intervene and refer their trade dispute to compulsory arbitration after all signs of further negotiations between the FNA and the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama broke down this afternoon.
FNA General Secretary Kuini Lutua told Village news that she had a telephone conversation with Bainimarama regarding their grievances who has maintained that they will not change their stance on the 1 percent pay restoration.
Lutua said they have no other option but to have the matter referred to the Permanent Arbitrator which would then end their strike.
Earlier today Interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama stressed that it would be impractical to meet with the Fiji Nursing Association if they are maintaining that the full 5 percent pay cut should be restored for nurses as they can only pay 1 percent and nothing more.
When contacted just moments ago Interim Labour Minister Bernadette Ganilau told Village that from the information that she has received, talks are still underway and she will wait for developments before deciding on referring the matter to Arbitration.
