FNA Calls for Interim PM’s Intervention
As FNA members continue to gather at the various picketing sites, FNA General Secretary Kuini Lutua said they are not enjoying themselves by making the health sector suffer.
Lutua also said they are aware that some may try and use their strike for political gain which they will not allow.
Lutua also revealed that she was interviewed by a Police Intelligence Officer this morning regarding their strike.
The FNA members who are rostered to work the night shift are now gathering at the various picketing sites to prepare to spend the night away from work. The FNA said an estimated 90 percent of their members are on strike around the country and their strike is having the desired impact.
And as the FNA maintains that it will not initiate any talks with the interim government, Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune said any decision to hold further talks in the future to end the strike is entirely up to the nurses.
Bune maintains that the nurses backed out of the earlier talks and must make the first move.
More than 1,670 nurses are on strike while only 180 are still providing essential services at the hospitals around the country.
