The Fiji Nurses Association is concerned that it has not been given the green light by the Ministry of Labour to hold its planned national strike next Tuesday.
Speaking to Village News, FNA General Secretary Kuini Lutua said they have followed all the requirements under the Trade Disputes Act to reach this stage and their dispute has not been acknowledged.
When contacted last night, Interim Labour Minister Bernadette Ganilau confirmed that they have not issued the green light for the FNA to go on strike as yet. Ganilau said they will wait for further developments later today before making a decision.
In a last ditch effort to avert their looming strike, the FNA handed in a revised memorandum of agreement which will be discussed at the meeting with Interim Public Service Minister Poseci Bune this morning.
The meeting gets underway at 11am.
