The Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority are still having talks with new Westech Mining Company on their outstanding taxes which amounts to more than $10 million.
FIRCA's Chief Executive Officer Jitoko Tikolevu said that they are hopeful that Westech clears all their dues soon.
The Westech Mining Company Director, Brian Wesson is expected to comment later this afternoon.
The Fiji Visitors Bureau has raised concern that the 12 million dollars allocated in the 2008 Budget will hinder the marketing of Fiji next year. Chairman Patrick Wong said they had requested for over 20 million dollars for operation and marketing however they received a similar allocation this year.
He said the increase in hotel turnover tax will also affect marketing.
