The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority targets to rake in close to $14 million today as the tax amnesty offered by the Interim Government comes to an end today.

Speaking to Village News, FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu confirms that while they targetted to collect around $30 million from the exercise, as of yesterday, they had collected $16 million.

However, Tikolevu said there is still a day remaining.

Tikolevu also confirms that through the amnesty exercise, FIRCA has had to waive around $2 million which would have been collected through penalties.

FIRCA confirms that no directive been issued to extend the amnesty period when it ends at 4pm today.
