The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority is continuing to monitor the prices of a number of items which have been made duty free.
FIRCA chief executive Jitoko Tikolevu said they have found that retailers are abiding by the new prices however they will continue with their surveillance program.
Fiscal duty on perfume, cosmetics, pre-shaving or after shaving preparation, cameras, sunglasses, watches, laptops, IPods, MP3s and MP4 players and jewellery has been reduced from 15 percent to 0 percent.
Duty has also been reduced from 5 to 0 percent for video and electronic games and USB wireless modems.
