Four individuals, including the general manager of the Taxation Department of Fiji Island Revenue and Customs Authority, who conspired to defraud FIRCA of $10,000, appeared separately this morning before various magistrates.

All four, FIRCA Taxation GM Vimal Krishna, Senior Assistant Health Inspector Navua Rural Local Authority Peni Tagimakutu, Navua Rural Local Authority Secretary Samuela Bolalailai and Ashwin Jogia had their cases moved to the High Court on the application of FICAC legal representative Aca Rayawa, based on the seriousness of the charges.

Tagimakutu's lawyer Akuila Naco asked the court for a variation in his bail condition in the reporting situation, as the FICAC office opened after 8am which hindered the accused's employment.

The variation was granted for Tagimakutu to now report to the Nakasi Police Station between 6am and 6pm on Mondays and Saturdays.

All four cases have been adjourned to the 30th of October.
