The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority has so far collected 1.5 million dollars from people who were evading taxes in the Southern Division.
Chief Executive, Jitoko Tikolevu said this is part of FIRCA's door to door checking especially on those who are earning large sum of money through the renting of their premises and are also operating small business from home and who were not on the FIRCA tax list.
According to Tikolevu the team will move to Eastern Division soon.
Meanwhile, Tikolevu has called on the members of the public to beware of people who are impersonating their staff and are visiting homes in the Central/Eastern Division.
He said they have received a report where a man gained entry into a house while impersonating a FIRCA officer. He has that are visiting their premises.
