The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority Officers and Staff Association has viewed the call for the resignation of the CEO of FIRCA as absurd and disgraceful.

General Secretary, Kenneth Zinck said those who are calling for Banuve's resignation due to his uncompromising move to reveal tax details of a taxpayer, should understand the laws and nature of work that covers the operations of the Inland Revenue Services.

According to Zinck, Banuve has been requested to break the laws of the country by surpassing the confidential clause in the Income Tax Act and VAT Decree which has direct legal consequences for future liability claims against FIRCA for breaching the clause.

They have also called on the interim government to use the powers vested with the Minister of Finance in the Income Tax Act and VAT Decree to demand specific tax payers information from the CEO.
