Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority Chief Executive, Tevita Banuve will be asked to resign later today.
Acting Interim Finance Minister, Jone Navakamocea confirmed this morning that the Interim Attorney General is now preparing a letter after studying the Income Tax Act, and the board is expected to meet with Banuve soon.
Navakamocea said the main reason for the call for Banuve's resignation is due to the fact that he is not cooperating in certain investigations being conducted by FIRCA.
He reveals that Banuve has been ignoring the FICAC officers since last week.
Meanwhile the FIRCA Officers and Staff Association has viewed the call for the resignation of the CEO of FIRCA as absurd and disgraceful.
General Secretary, Kenneth Zinck has called on the interim government to use the powers vested with the Minister of Finance in the Income Tax Act and VAT Decree to demand specific tax payers information from the CEO.
