The Chief Executive office of the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority, Tevita Banuve has resigned this afternoon.

Speaking to Village News in the last hour, FIRCA Board Chairman Filipe Bole confirms that Banuve handed in his resignation letter this morning and it is effective immediately.

Bole said Banuve did not given any reason for his decision and the Board has accepted his resignation and will soon advertise the CEO's post to look for a replacement.

It was earlier revealed by the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama that a directive was given to the Finance Ministry to remove Banuve from his post after allegations that he was not cooperating with FICAC in relation to certain investigations they are conducting.

Banuve could not be reached for a comment.
