The Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority and stakeholders in the water bottling industry are now putting together various proposals on compensation to be paid to the government for the bottling of water in the country.
Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority CEO Jitoko Tikolevu confirmed that both parties have decided to put all differences aside which arouse when a new tax was imposed on bottled water.
Tikolevu said there are positive signs that an amicable solution can be reached.
The issue of compensation to be paid to government was the key factor when the 20 cents per liter export and excise duty imposed on bottled water earlier this year, was revoked by the interim cabinet.
