The results of the 2008 Fiji Islands Literacy and Numeracy Assessment or FILNA are being released today.

A total of 25,205 students of classes 4, 6 and 8 sat for the test in English and Mathematics at 472 schools throughout the nation.

Of the total that sat the exams, there were 11,063 class 4 students, 11,057 class 6 students and 3,085 class 8 students.

The Ministry of Education said FILNA will be offered as an option to the Fiji Intermediate Exam at the class 6 level in 2009.

Primary schools that sat for the FILNA test in June can expect to receive their results through the mail in the next few days.
