The Executives of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions meet this afternoon to decide their next step.

FICTU General Secretary Attar Singh said they will make a decision later today on how to proceed and ensure that their demands are met.

It was earlier confirmed that FICTU is contemplating to file a fresh strike notice on behalf of the Fijian Teachers Association tomorrow after their strike was deemed ineffective when the interim government moved forward the second term school holidays.

FICTU is also exploring a number of legal options and is also considering calling off the strike by the Public Employees Union and the Viti national Union of Taukei Workers and file a fresh strike notice on their behalf as well.
