The Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions has rejected the proposals presented to them by the Interim Minister for Public Service Poseci Bune this afternoon.
However, speaking to Village News, Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions Chairperson Taniela Tabu said they have held discussions with the Minister this morning and have had some progress.
Tabu said his group rejected the proposal and their strike notice remains in force.
Tabu also criticised the stand taken by the Fiji Public Service Association and said the Union will only see more grievances arising because not all members will be satisfied.
The FICTU affiliates, the Fijian Teachers Association, Public Employees Union and the Viti National Union of Taukei Workers have proposed that the 5% pay cut be fully restored by 31st August this year, that the retirement age to remain at 60 years and not 55 which is being implemented and the suspension of the partnership agreement be lifted immediately for all payments of COLA to be made by December 2008.
