Members of the Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions have lodged a 28 days strike notice with the Registrar of Trade Unions for strike action to take place on the 1st of August.
The Viti Taukei Workers Union, the Public Employees Union and the Fijian Teachers Association have confirmed the lodgement.
Viti Union General Secretary Taniela Tabu said talks have been taking place with the interim administration for the past seven months and they have given them enough time to resolve the dispute.
PEU President Dauniatu Kautoga said the Union is disappointed with the interim cabinet's decision to reject the proposal yesterday afternoon.
The Confederation of Public Sector Unions, which consists of the Fiji Nurses Association, the Fiji Teachers Union and the Fiji Public Service Association, have already lodged their strike notice with the Registrar of Trade Unions, for their strike to take place on the 19th of July.
