The Fiji Islands Council of Trade Unions is concerned about the delay by the Ministry of Labour in recognizing their trade dispute.
FICTU General Secretary Attar Singh said they are still awaiting word from the Labour Ministry on the issue despite the union meeting all the requirements under the Trade Disputes Act.
The Fiji Nurses Association, whose members are expected to walk of their jobs on midnight Tuesday, raised similar concerns.
In response, Interim Labour Minister Bernadette Ganilau had said earlier that they are awaiting the outcome of talks underway between the unions and the Interim Minister for Public Service before they are given the necessary clearance to stage the strike.
The FICTU members are expected to go on strike on the 2nd of August.
