The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption will now hand over the Murder and Rape cases previously prosecuted by their lawyers to Police and the Director of Public Prosecutions office for prosecution.

Deputy FICAC Commissioner, LT. Colonel George Langman told Village News this morning that they will now meet with Police Commissioner, Commodore Esala Teleni and the Director of Public Prosecutions, Josaia Naigulevu to sort the issue.

However, he maintains that they will continue to prosecute Corruption and Bribery cases as it is under their promulgation.

The Lautoka High court has referred the case of 8 men charged with the murder of Nadi Jeweller, Kamlesh Nandha to the Magistrates court saying that only the Director of Public Prosecutions Office has the right to prosecute criminal cases in the High court.

Judge Justice Gerard Winter dismissed the proceedings in the High court and referred the matter back to the Nadi Magistrates court, instructing the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption lawyers to consult with the office of the DPP and allow them to prosecute the case.

The judge said only the DPP can prosecute the cases as stated in the constitution and the Criminal Procedure Code. Justice Winter also released the eight men on bail. They are Kishore Khera, Manoj Khera, Sanjay Khera, Prakash Garana, Samuel Singh, Imran Ali, Jack Fraser and Alvin Raj. Lawyers, Mehboob Raza and Haroon Ali Shah appeared for the defense.
