The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption is now planning to withdraw the murder charge against eight men who are jointly charged for the alleged murder of Nadi Jeweller, Kamlesh Nandha.

FICAC Legal Officer, Miriama Soata told Village News that they will withdraw the murder charge so that their lawyers can only prosecute the eight suspects in relation to corruption and other bribery cases.

According to Soata the murder file will then be forwarded to police for investigations and prosecutions.

The eight are Kishore Khera, Manoj Khera, Sanjay Khera, Prakash Garana, Samuel Singh, Imran Ali, Jack Fraser and Alvin Raj.

Lautoka High Court Judge, Justice Gerrard Winter ruled on the 17th of this month that under the constitution only the DPP can prosecute the cases as stated in the Criminal Procedure Code and FICAC.

The eight appeared in the Suva Magistrates court this morning however the case has been adjourned to the 17th of next month.

They are also charged with Conspiracy to make false declaration to obtain passports and giving false information to public servants.
