FICAC lawyer makes application
FICAC lawyer Aca Rayawa has made an application to the High Court that Tuisolia should seek the court's permission when he wants to travel overseas.
In court today, Judge Justice Daniel Goundar told the FICAC lawyer to look at possibilities and consider that Tuisolia has no reason to flee the country as he has a business, as well as children and a wife in the country and for him to flee would result in a bad name for his family.
FICAC seeks amendments to Tuisolia's bail condition which allowed him to travel abroad for business.
The Court heard that FICAC objected to this bail condition as Tuisolia had applied for three positions overseas in Australia, New Zealand as well as in Vanuatu and had not informed them of his applications. FICAC found out about the applications when they received a call from the NSW Airport Authority two weeks ago asking FICAC about Tuisolia's case.
In his defense, Tuisolia said that he had not applied for any jobs overseas but in his current position as an executive for the International Union on the Conservation of Oceans, he had to travel overseas.
Tuisolia is being charged by FICAC for 22 counts of abuse of office and 22 counts of false pretence after he allegedly used Visa cards belonging to AFL to purchase personal items.
