The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption is now examining the completed investigation report into the Native Lands Trust Board.

Outgoing Deputy Commissioner of FICAC Captain Esala Teleni confirms receiving the report from the investigation team led by Colonel Apakuki Kurusiga following allegations of corrupt practices within the NLTB.

Captain Teleni has revealed that one of the major problems found by the investigators was the inaccurate registering of land which has over the years fueled the frustration of the landowners.

He said the investigations have found that some 300 landowners are not registered but continue to claim for land which is not theirs.

Teleni revealed that FICAC will also look into the Native Land Act, Native Administration Act and the NLTB's operations and functions and to identify some of the steps to be taken to strengthen the institution.

Last week interim Fijian Affairs Minister Ratu Epeli Ganilau confirmed that the interim cabinet will look into the report before it is forwarded to FICAC for further investigations.
