A FICAC employee in Labasa appeared in the Labasa Magistrates Court today charged with two counts of Conversion as a trustee.

FICAC alleges that its worker, Tui Vunibola applied for funds from a donor agency on behalf of a local youth group to start a piggery business and then a prawn farming business.

The allegation is that on receipt of the funds from the donor agency, the officer appropriated a greater proportion of the funds to his own use rather than keeping them in trust for the youth group.

The case has been adjourned to the 25th of this month as Vunibola asked for time to seek legal advice.

FICAC also confirms that Vunibola's employment with FICAC has been terminated. It said the officer also breached staff policy to declare any other dealings outside of FICAC employment, which he failed to do.
