Two major cases of rape and murder which were handled by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption were brought before Nadi Magistrate Sayed Mukhtar Shah today.

Magistrate Shah has adjourned the case to the 1st November when he will make a ruling on the proper authority to handle the case, whether it will be FICAC or the Police prosecution.

The court heard that all the matters were referred to the Magistrates court by Justice Gerard Winter at the Lautoka court two weeks ago as a few issues were to be sorted out especially the powers of FICAC to prosecute such cases.

The cases refer to a Former Senior Police officer, ASP Dharmendra Narayan who is charged with rape and the other relates to four businessmen who were earlier charged with murder by FICAC.
