The Fiji Human Rights Commission said it will not be prudent to comment as yet on the changes brought about to the Great Council of Chiefs regulations which now sees Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama appointed Chairman of the GCC.

FHRC Chairperson Dr. Shaista Shameem told Village news that the FHRC is assisting the High Court with legal issues in the case filed by the terminated members of the GCC against the Interim government and they cannot comment.

She said others should be reminded that there is a case before the courts which would ultimately decide the legality or otherwise of the actions being taken.

Meanwhile, the Citizens Constitutional Forum Executive Director Reverend Akuila Yabaki is currently in Geneva and said he is not aware of the developments yet. CCF said it will comment later on the matter.

Pacific Center for Public Integrity Director Angie Heffernan is also out of the country.
