Fiji Human Rights Commissioner Shamima Ali is now getting ready to send a report to the United Nations which will be a reply to the report sent by the Fiji Human Rights Commission.
Ali said the report will be ready by this week after which it will be submitted to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
The Fiji Human Rights Commission earlier released a report in which it stated that events of December 5th, 2006 cannot be described as a coup.
In the commission's report to the UN, Human Rights Commission Director, Dr Shaishta Shameem said by authorizing Laisenia Qarase's removal, President Ratu Josefa Iloilo appeared to have exercised his sovereign power under section 86 of the constitution.
She said the action was taken to protect both the constitution and the state of Fiji and to provide immunity for those who carried out his wishes in the public interest.
