The Fiji Human Rights Commission will be represented at the first United Nations Forum on Minorities and the Right to Education, to be held in Geneva on the 15th and 16th of December.

The Forum will make recommendations which will be reported to the Human Rights Council. The forum is empowered to identify and analyze best practices and challenges for the further implementation of the UN Declaration of the Rights of Minorities.

Chairperson Dr Shaista Shameem said they are honored by the ongoing dialogue and interaction between the FHRC and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights on a number of fronts.

The Commission's Legal Officer responsible for minority issues, Sova Colavanua, will be attending the Forum on behalf of the Commission.
