It’s just three days away from the announcement of the 2009 National Budget and the Fiji Human Rights Group in New Zealand hopes the Interim Government considers the request for the 2000 coup victims to be compensated.
Group Spokesperson Santa Maharaj said there is no doubt that the interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama, his officers, hostage politicians and some police officers were also victims of the 2000 crisis.
Maharaj also said that the 2000 coup and mutiny perpetrators and supporters should ask for forgiveness for their wrongdoing.
Maharaj who is also a joint founder of the refugee camp in Lautoka in 2000 said they have been lobbying for compensation for the past 3 years, have addressed their issues with the anua and now it is time for the Vanua to act so the victims can forgive, forget and move on with their lives.
