The Fiji Human Rights Commission has completed its inquiry into the 2006 General Elections after a team conducted consultations around the country.

FHRC Director Dr. Shaista Shameem confirms that the Fiji Labour Party, SDL and the Prime Minister's Office were handed the report earlier this week and have time to respond by September 21st.

Shameem said the report will only be made public after these parties have responded.

When contacted on the issue, FLP President Jokapeci Koroi said she has not received the report while SDL National Director Peceli Kinivuwai said he has been out of the office and does not know if it has been received.

Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Pramesh Chand said they are now studying the findings and recommendations in the report before issuing a further statement.

The Commission of Inquiry had been appointed to look into whether and to what extent the constitutional right to vote of people in Fiji was protected during the 2006 general elections.
