The Constitutional Offices Commission chairman Rishi Ram said the Fiji Human Rights Commission director Shaista Shameem will have to resign from her position as FHRC director in order to take up her new appointment as ombudsman.
Ram also revealed that in and above the ombudsman’s appointment, Shameem will also be the chairperson of the Fiji Human Rights Commission.
Ram adds Shameem's appointment was endorsed by the Interim Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama after 6 candidates were interviewed for the position.
Shameem will replace Rodney Acraman who is currently acting in the post
Doctor Shaista Shameem is yet to comment.
