The Fiji Human Rights Commission stresses that its report on the 2006 Elections cannot be reviewed by the courts and comments by any Judge on the matter does not affect the independence of the Judiciary.

FHRC Chairperson Dr. Shaista Shameem stresses that the report stands on its own and does not need anyone’s support and said that reports by the Commission cannot be revised by a court because of the separation of the powers doctrine.

After High Court Judge Justice Jocylne Scutt came under heavy criticism for airing views on the FHRC's Election report, Dr. Shameem said such comments does not hinder her role as a Judge.
