More than a thousand needy students will be assisted by the Foundation of the Education of Needy Children this year.
Program Coordinator Ashna Shaleen said they have been receiving overwhelming requests from needy families in the central, western and northern divisions.
Shaleen said there are processes in place to determine the genuine cases and they will be vetting the applications at the end of this week.
Schools will begin on the 24th of this month.
