FEA unsure on full power restoration
That is the stand of the Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) as they reveal that many parts of Viti Levu are still without power supply.
Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel said at the moment their workers are trying their best to ensure the whole of Fiji gets power back soon.
When Fijivillage contacted the Authority this morning, their Command Centre revealed that they have over 400 of their engineers and contractors out in the field carrying out surveys and fixing broken poles and lines.
According to FEA, Tropical Cyclone Mick hit two of the main centres namely the Western and Central Division both of which are densely populated areas and restoring powers to these areas will take some time as they want to ensure that each grid is thoroughly checked to ensure there are no broken power lines before switching on power.
At the moment FEA has managed to restore over 60% of power to the central business districts, hospitals and water pumping stations, with just over 40% restored to residents.
Meanwhile, Wailala, Ba resident Mrs SM Shah said around 500 houses in Ba are still without electricity.
FEA Chief Executive Hasmukh Patel earlier said that they are prioritizing power restoration to water pumping stations, sewerage plants, hospitals and to all the central business districts around the country.
