The Fiji Electricity Authority (FEA) has written to the Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama and the line Ministers to provide statistics that the $34 million Butoni wind farm is not a failure.
Acting CEO Sunil De Silva said despite the farm being out of commission during the two major weather systems since July 2007, the wind farm is performing as expected.
He also defends the site chosen at Butoni to construct the farm saying all expert findings and studies proved it was the most suitable. He said there are several misconceptions on how a wind farm operates.
