The Fiji Electricity Authority has revealed this morning that the water level at the Monasavu dam is only 15 metres above critical level.
FEA Chief Executive, Hasmukh Patel said the continuous dry spell has forced them to produce more than 65 percent of electricity by using diesel generators.
Patel said the cost of producing electricity through diesel generators is costing the FEA close to $15 million a month.
He further added that the current water level at the Monasavu dam will last less than 8 weeks, if they do not use diesel generators.
