The Fiji Electricity Authority has so far gone against it's budget and spent an additional $18 million on fuel cost for this year.

This was revealed by FEA Chief Executive Officer, Hasmukh Patel during a presentation on FEAs operations last night.

Patel said when they were preparing their corporate plan for this year, they had budgeted $69 million for their fuel cost however following the price increase in June this year, they have already spent $87 million on fuel.

Patel said their budget expansion was due to the rise in fuel prices in the world market and the cost of using diesel generators proved expensive.
