The Fiji Electricity Authority tried to restore power supply soon after the power blackout that affected Viti Levu on Friday.

These are the words of FEA chief executive officer Hasmukh Patel who said that power supply was restored in parts of Viti Levu between 4.30 am to 6.30am.

His comment comes after Fiji Retailers Association President Himmat Lodhia said that the business community in Suva and Viti Levu suffered a lot due to power blackout and that all their schedules for their businesses were fouled with staff not turning up for work when many had to look after their children who had an unscheduled break.

However, Patel said he finds it difficult to understand that because by the time the shops were open, power supply was restored.
