Only one non government organisation in the country will be a direct recipient of the aid the Pacific Islands Association of Non Government Organisation received from the Australian and New Zealand Governments.

According to the program director for the organisation, Bakacebo Tamaroa out of the $4.5 million aid from Australia, the Fiji Centre of Social Services will be the main recipient in Fiji with other NGOs affiliated to FCOSS getting smaller aid.

However, Tamaroa said that the $4.5 million will be shared over a three year period with each of the 22 member countries sharing the $1.5million.

Tamaroa also adds that most of the money will be used for their Regional meetings as on average they use over $200 000 per meeting.

Some regional members are Samoa Tonga, Fiji and even New Zealand and Australia. FCOSS is expected to comment later on the issue.
