The Fiji Cane Growers Association said the contents of the EU Troika Mission Report, is a painful reality for the cane farmers of Fiji.

These are the sentiments of the Association in light of the EU Troika Mission report that sugar aid for 2008 will be released once the Interim Government fulfils its commitments to the EU on returning Fiji to parliamentary democracy and holding elections before March 2009.

General Secretary Bala Dass said the Interim Government, the Fiji Labour Party and the National Farmers Union are responsible for pushing farmers into the doldrums adding that Chaudhry should resign as he claims Chaudhry has resisted all attempts to ensuring that Fiji goes to elections by March 2009.

He also claims Chaudhry has been lying to farmers for the last 18 months as he has made repeated comments of elections to be delayed beyond March 2009. Attempts to get Chaudhry proved futile.
