FASANOC will now be seeking legal assistance to allow Fiji athletes to take part in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
President, Vidhya Lakhan this morning reveals they will be taking the matter up to the Court of Arbitration for Sports, after an unfruitful meeting with the Commonwealth Secretariat in London last month.
Lakhan said what the Commonwealth games Association needs to realize is that Fiji athletes are being penalized, and the ban is unconstitutional and a misinterpretation of the Commonwealth Games Constitution.
This is the first time in their 60 years of existence that FASANOC will be taking the matter up to the Highest Sports Court.
Meanwhile, FASANOC also launched a huge campaign to gather support for their inclusion in the 2010 Commonwealth Games, ahead of a lobby being planned at the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting later this month in Trinidad and Tobago.
