The Commonwealth does not have any powers to stop Fiji from taking part in the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games according to FASANOC.
Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee president Vidya Lakhan said he is not sure where the Commonwealth Secretariat is coming from or whether they have the authority to make such a statement.
Lakhan said the Commonwealth Games Federation which FASANOC is a member of is a sporting organization which has its own charter, regulations and protocols.
He added that the CGF constitution is clear on the issue that there shall be no discrimination against any country.
Lakhan has also written to the CGF president seeking clarification on the statement issued by the Commonwealth Secretariat.
