FASANOC is awaiting the official confirmation from schoolboys sprints champion Beniamino Maravu that he wants to play rugby in the upcoming Pacific Mini Games.

Chief Executive Officer of FASANOC Lorraine Mar said they understand that Maravu has opted to feature for the national 7s team.

Fiji Rugby Union CEO Manasa Baravilala said Maravu has verbally advised them of his decision but they are waiting for the 19-year-old to fax his approval letter before FRU forwards it to FASANOC.

Maravu earlier told Fijivillage that he has decided to take up rugby because of his family’s welfare.

The Coca-Cola Games blue ribbon champion is looking after his mother and six younger siblings.
