The Rural to urban drift and the land problem in Fiji is what the Agriculture Ministry is trying to tackle to avoid the shortage of food within the next 10 to 20 years.

This after the Food and Agricultural Organization predicted that food production will have to increase by 70% over the next 40 years to feed the world's growing population.

Senior Agriculture Officer Uraia Waibuta said Fiji's food production sustainability is between 50-70% now and farmers still have a lot to produce.
