The Divisional Water Engineer, Central Eastern is calling on people to use water wisely in light of the low water levels.
Serei-co-coko Yanu-yanu-rua said there is a shortage of water and has asked people to play their part. He said the responsibility does not only lie with the Water Supply Department.
Yanu-yanu-rua confirms 60 mega litres of water is needed daily in the reservoir to cater for everyone.
However, the supply only stands at 50 mega liters in the storage, which is 10 mega liters below the daily demand. He said this will result in planned water shutdowns until the water levels normalize at the catchments.
He said a lot of rainfall is needed to help increase the water levels at the various catchments to cater for everyone.
