The Western Part of Viti Levu is expected to experience more rain and associated strong gales as Cyclone Gene moves away from the Fiji Group.
According to the Weather Office, the centre is located 18 decimal 2 south 175 decimal east or about 160km west of Nadi and is moving west - southwest at 10 to 15 km per hour.
National Weather Director, Rajendra Prasad said though the eye of tropical cyclone Gene is gradually moving further away to the west, residents will still feel the adverse weather conditions.
However, Prasad also adds that there is no other weather system within close proximity of the Fiji that is likely to form into a cyclone within the next few days.
The western division and the outlying areas the Yasawas, the Mamanuca Group and the Northern Parts of Vanua Levu will experience the effects of Cyclone Gene as it moves away.
