Those living in Sigatoka, Ba, Tavua and Rakiraki have been asked to start storing water now as water disruptions are expected tonight due to the current weather conditions.

This has been confirmed by Works Ministry Spokesperson, Sainiana Waqainabete who says the pipes supplying water to the various areas, is blocked due to flood waters.

People are to expect more heavy rain and strong winds tonight as the Tropical Depression has moved closer to Viti Levu.

Nadi Weather Office Director Rajendra Prasad said that as of 2pm today, the Tropical Depression's centre was located at 440 km west of Nadi and is expected to curve South East maintaining the same route tonight.

He also said that by tomorrow morning at 3, the system at its closest point should pass 300 to 350 kilometres South West of Kadavu bringing in more rain and strong winds.

Raibe has confirmed the Kings Road is now closed to all traffic as the Naqia and Baleinaga bridges are under 3metres of water and are closed to all the traffic.

Also all roads leading to Rakiraki town are now closed as heavy rain-fall continues this afternoon.

Rakiraki Police have also called on all the residents who wish to come to town to stay at home, as they do not want to take the risk of allowing anyone into town because of the floods.

Corporal Savenaca Vunisa said the roads to the Rakiraki Hospital are also closed and have asked the public to make arrangements with police in case of emergencies.

The Naqoro flats which leads to Rakiraki town is under 5 feet of water and the roads to Vatu-ka-cevaceva, Narara and Raiwasa are also closed because the bridge which links these areas to town is under 3 feet of water.

The other places which are badly affected by flood is the road near the village of Rakiraki on the Kings highway, it is under 4 feet of water and is closed to all traffic.

Vunisa said if the heavy rain continues then Rakiraki town can experience flooding tonight.

Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri who is currently in Labasa told Fijivillage News that they are experiencing some heavy rain and strong winds.

He has also urged to people living in the low lying areas to move to higher grounds.
