An expatriate hired by the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority (FIRCA) has been terminated and a departure prohibition order has been issued against him.

Fijivillage has received confirmation that the expat, who was on a three year contract has been terminated for alleged misconduct and is under investigation.

It has also been confirmed that the expatriate cannot leave the country until the investigation is completed.

When contacted by Fijivillage FIRCA CEO Jitoko Tikolevu said the expat's termination is a sensitive issue and he will have to seek the permission of the FIRCA Board before commenting on the matter.

Director Immigration Nemani Vuniwaqa confirmed that the expat has been placed on the travel ban list and is not permitted to leave the country.

Vuniwaqa said the expatriate was placed on the travel ban list before being terminated by FIRCA. He said they cannot comment further on the matter.
