Exercise Authority: Serulagilagi
Josefa Serulagilagi this morning told farmers and shareholders at the company's Annual General Meeting (AGM) that legal action has been taken against parties involved in the mismanagement of company resources.
He stressed that the matters are being vigorously pursued and they are hopeful of recovering a substantial sum of money from the staff members who are no longer with the company.
He added that the investigations have dragged on for 3 years without any results.
Meanwhile, Serulagilagi told the AGM that the first 6 months of this year was very difficult for the company as it was forced to begin the withdrawal of traditional farmer support measures.
He said the company hopes for a favorable 2009 budget after the interim Prime Minister earlier said that Fiji aims to be self-sufficient in dairy productions by 2015.
Serulagilagi added that there is a need to improve the basic infrastructure and any failure by the government can only result in the disruption of Commodore Frank Bainimarama's plan as a great deal of work needs to be done to have Bainimarama's vision fulfilled.
